The following guide will explain how to repair Audi A1 dashboards LCD display, using Minitools part SEPFLAT44
Disassemble the dashboard undoing the screws and removing the plastic backing and the front cover
Undo the display
Gently lift the LCD screen and remove the flat ribbon cable from the PCB and from the LCD screen manually.
It’s really important to clean any residues using a cotton bud and some solvent, both from the circuit and the LCD display.
Remove the protective film and position the Minitools flat exactly on the display contacts.
With a soldering iron with “T” tip at 350 degrees, gently press several times along all the contacts to get a perfect connection.
It’s critical to position the tip at right angles to avoid damages to the contacts of the flat
The same process is necessary for connecting the flat on the circuit of the dashboard.
Fit the display in its original position.
Close the instrument cluster and tighten the screws.
Perfetto! Problem solved
